Hi everyone! I wanted to share the link to my most recent column over at DIY MFA:
This is a subject I was contemplating earlier this month, as I received rejections (or silence) from literary agents and from short story publishers. Rejections are not only common when you’re writing, they’re necessary: if you’re not getting rejected, you’re not querying enough. But they do sometimes sting, and that was where this article germinated. It’s about how to see rejections for the small roadblocks they are, instead of letting them consume your writing path.
It’s very ironic that this post was scheduled for DIY MFA this week. I’ll be sharing why in Friday’s post!
I just commented on the post at DIY MFA. 😉
It’s funny, because I was reading Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert last night and stopped just after her entry about dealing with rejection. Our reaction to failure and rejection is so much more important than we think it is – and it can make or break our confidence and willingness to continue our craft.
Ooooh? Ironic?? I’ll make sure to come back on Friday and find out how. (I hope it’s positive…?)
