Getting Into the Blogging Groove

Man, I wish I’d started blogging daily on day 1. How great would it be to have a public record of the 2020 quarantine? I do have my journal entries, so at least I’ll have something to look back on. But it would have been nice if I’d been more open with my blogging from the beginning. I guess I just wasn’t ready for that.

It’s a perennial problem with blogging: if I haven’t done it in awhile, I feel as though the post has to carry some extra weight. As though people will expect more from me if I’ve been away. If I’ve just blogged yesterday, the expectation is much lower.

But the blogs I love best post daily, short briefings. So I’m going to try and do that for awhile. And I’ll give it some sort of structure, too. I’ll tell you how my day is going, and ask about yours. I’ll tell you something that’s getting me through, and something I miss. Maybe I’ll make a recommendation or two.

Sound good?

I feel great today because I read through the first 10 chapters of my novel all in one sitting, and I’m happy with it. Happy enough that I’m now seeking editors to give it a developmental edit (a term I just learned today) and make sure I’m on the right track for the rest of the re-write and prepare to submit to agents. I have to thank my sister Kaitlyn for this current, happy state of affairs, because last Sunday when I was despairing over the state of my novel, she gave me the pep talk I needed to meet my 10-chapter goal. Thanks, sis!

I also decided to go back on Weight Watchers online for awhile. I’ve done it in the past, and always got good results. I consider myself a disciplined person, but not when it comes to food. I just love food. Weight Watchers works pretty well for me because I can still eat what I like, but I have to be careful about portions. It’s time to work on that aspect of my health, now that I seem to be in a better mental space over the coronavirus and its effects on the world.

One thing that I’m loving today is the Apple Music app on our TV. Did you know that Apple Music shows the song’s lyrics if you have a big enough screen? I just discovered this yesterday and now it’s like my personal karaoke machine! I’m definitely driving my family crazy but it’s so much fun belting out Disney showstoppers. I even tried Hamilton this morning. Yes, I can rap! (In the comfort of my own home with no one to judge me.)

How is your day going?
