Happy Monday morning! As you begin your workweek, before you jump into the minutiae of everyday work and life, take a moment to step back and ask yourself a Big Question. This can be a writing prompt, or just a question to ponder during the day.
When I was ten years old, what did I want to be when I grew up?
You can think back to other ages, of course. When I was three, my answer was “fire hydrant” (I meant fire fighter, but I never lived that mistaken answer down). When I was six, I wanted to own a Disney-themed restaurant with my friends. When I was ten, I wanted to be a teacher or librarian (education and books! Jackpot!) but by the time I was eleven or twelve, I was considering medical school simply because “doctors make money.” You see the pattern? Younger than ten, and your dreams are too fanciful and impractical; older than ten, and they become too practical and not passionate enough.
If you remember your ten-year-old answer, and if this question sparks some thoughts about your current career path, I’d love to hear about it in the comment section or via email (leannesowul(at)gmail(dot)com).
Think, write and share this question with others.
Have a great week, everyone!
